Your mission
A key focus of the role will be the effective management of the team and prioritisation of individual planning tasks to ensure customer requests progress within agreed delivery timescales.
The role will ensure planning outputs are delivered to the required quality, cost and timescale requirements.
The team is responsible for reviewing proposed and existing FTTP build designs and validating that these remain technically, commercially and operationally viable with a strong focus on HSEQ compliance. This includes coordinating updated field surveys through contract partners, reviewing survey outputs, assessing build costs and feasibility, considering HSEQ and utility constraints and establishing land ownership and wayleave requirements.
- Identifyrequirements for wayleaves, permissions or specialist land access support and refer these to the appropriate Wayleave Officer where ownership or access cannot be resolved through the normal planning process.
- Review and authorise design changes whereappropriate, ensuring impacts are assessed,documentedand communicated.
- Manage individual customer-driven planning tasks against agreed SLAs, ensuring each activity has clear ownership, status, nextactionandrequiredcompletion date.
- Monitor planning milestones, ageing tasks, risks,dependenciesand constraints, escalating issues whereappropriate.
- Work closely with Build, Commercial, HSEQ, Wayleaves, PIA,contractorsand other internal and external stakeholders to support efficient customer delivery.
- Ensure planning and design changes are accurately captured within GIS and relevant network record systems.
- Provide regular reporting on planning performance, workload, resource requirements, survey performance, customerdeliveryand risks.
- Manage planning resource allocation, workload prioritisation and task sequencing to ensure effective and timely delivery.
- Assess proposed solutions against agreed commercial parameters and available customer/build budgets,identifyingopportunities for alternative or more cost-effective solutions whereappropriate.
Your profile
The ideal person will come from a telecoms background coupled with extensive planning experience. Previous experience working for a major UK telecoms company would be an advantage.
- Significant FTTP planning experience with a good understanding of passive network infrastructure.
- Demonstrable experience leading, supervising or supporting technical planning teams.
- Strong understanding of fibre surveying, network designprinciplesand fibre infrastructure deployment.
- Experience reviewing existing network designs andvalidatingthese against current field conditions.
- Good understanding of fibre and civils within FTTP builds, including duct, chambers, poles, trenchroutesand Special Engineering Difficulties.
- Proven ability to assess and developfit-for-purpose and cost-effectivenetwork solutions.
- Good commercial awareness with the ability to assess proposed solutions against agreed cost and budget parameters.
- Experience managing or working with third-party survey,designor delivery partners.
- Understanding of HSEQ requirements associated with telecommunications and civil engineering works.
- Awareness of utility infrastructure and the potential risks associated with working in proximity to gas, electricity,waterand other services.
- Understanding of UK/NI regulations relating to civil engineering works,streetworks, wayleaves and telecommunications infrastructure.
